Description

Next Generation Subwoofer

The KH 870 II elevates its predecessor by enhancing acoustic precision and incorporating advanced features. Equipped with two innovative 10” long-throw woofers featuring Extremely Linear Force Factor (ELFF™) technology and smart protection limiters, it delivers remarkably low distortion even at peak sound pressure levels.

The KH 870 II expands low-frequency response to 16 Hz and provides nearly double the output compared to the KH 810 II, making it an ideal match for midfield monitors like the KH 420.

The KH 870 II features DSP control for enhanced audio quality and seamless integration via the MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment system (sold separately). When paired with analog Neumann studio monitors like the KH 120 A (discontinued), KH 310, or KH 420, it provides ample DSP capacity to calibrate complete stereo, surround, or immersive setups up to 7.1.4 channels through MA 1, optimizing both frequency response and phase coherence. Additionally, it pairs perfectly with Neumann’s DSP-enabled studio monitors. In surround and immersive configurations, analog and DSP monitors can be combined and room-aligned using MA 1 with Multichannel Extension (sold separately). This makes the KH 870 II far more than a subwoofer—it is an essential tool for upgrading and expanding audio systems toward immersive sound.

Precision in Every Detail

Placed typically on the floor, the KH 870 II’s drivers are safeguarded by durable grilles against accidental impact. Its sturdy cabinet incorporates a finely tuned, highly efficient bass reflex system designed to deliver precise bass with virtually no audible port noise.

The KH 870 II includes two analog XLR inputs and outputs for stereo connectivity. For multichannel setups, it provides two Sub D25 connectors supporting up to 12 analog inputs and two additional Sub D25 connectors for up to 11 analog outputs. All connections are electronically balanced. Digital connections are also supported via AES3 (BNC), and an AES67 version, the KH 870 II AES67, is available for audio networking applications.

The KH 870 II is highly suited for music production, film scoring, broadcast, and post-production environments, supporting tracking, mixing, and mastering tasks. Its innovative power amplifier design delivers outstanding audio fidelity alongside impressive energy efficiency. Additionally, the Auto Standby feature can be disabled through the MA 1 application.
