Description

The black 4288 CORE+ Cardioid Flex Headset Microphone from DPA combines the sound of the 4088 cardioid mic capsule and CORE+ amplifier with a discreet and flexible dual-ear headset. It can be used when talent needs a secure yet hands-free solution, and its lightweight, comfortable design means the person wearing the microphone will barely notice its presence, making it well suited to conference, speech, broadcast, and live-performance applications.

The ergonomic 4288 easily adjusts to fit any ear size and head shape, while at the same time, it mounts securely and is hardly visible. By rotating the boom and adjustable earhooks, the microphone can be used on either the left or the right side. The modular design allows the connector cable to split from the microphone boom, making it easy to swap out broken cables and/or wireless connectors quickly and easily without having to replace the entire microphone. This configuration features an interchangeable 120mm boom, the standard size for most users.

  • Built to withstand the rigors of long-term everyday use, DPA's MicroLock system features an easy-to-use, secure, and wear-resistant locking connector specially engineered to minimize accidental disconnection and ensure reliable performance. The compact design is well suited to situations where space is limited and a visually discreet solution is preferred.
  • The 4288 will work with a wide variety of wireless transmitters via separately available adapters. Simply choose the MicroLock adapter with the appropriate connector for your bodypack transmitter and you're good to go.
  • MicroLock is fully backwards compatible with the MicroDot connection; MicroLock parts can be assembled with MicroDot parts and function as if they were of the MicroDot type. Please note that the locking function is only available if both the male and female parts are MicroLock.

The 4288 CORE+ features a sensitive 5.4mm electret-condenser capsule designed for standard speech and vocal applications at levels up to 134 dB SPL RMS and 137 dB SPL peak before producing < 1% distortion. The mic can even handle up to 144 dB SPL with only 10% distortion, making it well suited to a variety of presenters and performers.
More Range, Less Distortion
Microphones with CORE+ provide even more clarity across the entire dynamic range, from low to high sound pressure levels. Miniature microphones with CORE+ provide unheard levels of openness. While CORE allows mics to handle higher SPLs without significant artifacts up to 1% THD, CORE+ eliminates those artifacts completely.
Cardioid Pickup Pattern
The cardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture on the talent in front of the mic and provides a consistent frequency response, even for off-axis sounds at lower volume. The narrow pickup pattern helps reduce feedback problems from monitors and PA systems for clear, intelligible speech.
Soft Boost for Speech Intelligibility
The 4288 features a built-in soft boost EQ that provides a 4 to 6 dB boost in the 15 kHz range for added presence and clarity.

Low-Profile Headset Mic
Once placed on the performer, the headset microphone sits securely and unobtrusively close to the sound source and allows the user to move freely about without having to hold a microphone in the hand or have a lavalier mic clipped on the shirt. This dual-ear headset design is ideal for more active situations, when secure mounting is required, as it sits snugly on the neck and is virtually invisible; it is unobtrusive and so comfortable that users forget they are wearing it.
Tough, Moisture-Resistant Construction
Engineered with a double-vent protection system, the 4288 is certified IP58 for dust and moisture resistance. The rugged 4.1' cable is built with Kevlar strain relief to survive the constant twists, bends, and pulls that are part of everyday use in harsh environments.
